Vincent G. Taylor Joins Abbeville Housing Staff

ABBEVILLE, SC --- Vincent Taylor recently joined the staff of Abbeville Housing, serving as Deputy Director. 

In this role, Taylor will assist in the overall provision of administrative and management duties of the authority, including implementing and administering housing programs, preparation and implementation of the annual budget, working closely with the Board of Commissioners and execution of stated management plans, supervision of staff, and serving in place of Executive Director Haqq during absences of Executive Director Haqq. 

Taylor relocated to the Abbeville area in February. Taylor holds a Master's in Public Administration from Valdosta State University in Valdosta, GA, and a Bachelor's in Political Science. Additionally, Taylor holds various certificates in Public Housing Management, HCV and PH Rent Calculation, Low-Income Housing Tax Credit, Fair Housing, and Employment Training, and other industry-related certifications. 

With 25 years of experience, Taylor brings his Affordable Housing and Public Sector expertise to the agency. Prior to joining Abbeville Housing, Taylor served as a Budget and Management Analyst for the Columbus Consolidated Government in Columbus, GA. In this role, Taylor prepared and monitored departmental budgets for local government units. Taylor also previously served as the Senior Budget and Management Analyst for the City of Durham in Durham, NC. In this role, Taylor led a team of analysts focused on preparing and monitoring departmental budgets for statutory and high-profile departments across multiple funds. Taylor transitioned from local government to affordable housing in 2009. Taylor served as the Public Housing Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Program Coordinator, with the Housing Authority of Columbus, GA where he worked closely with public housing families, property management, maintenance, and grounds and assisting the Director of Resident Services administer the authority's resident services programs that included FSS, Resident Opportunities for Self-Sufficiency, and Neighborhood Network Centers. Taylor was promoted to Moving to Work (MTW) Program Coordinator in 2012 after gaining operational knowledge and experience and led efforts to build a successful MTW Program. Taylor was recruited by Atlanta Housing to lead their MTW Program, where he improved their reporting documents and created operational efficiencies. During his tenure there, he moved up from MTW Manager to MTW Director.

Taylor received additional training in leadership from the Capstone and Pastoral Institutes. Taylor has continued his education through industry training, housing and congressional articles and policy, and self-paced online courses. 

Taylor has 3 Children, 2 with his current spouse Tami. During his free time, Taylor enjoys exploring other areas through books, movies, and traveling, as well as spending time with family, friends, and alone.

Abbeville Housing (AHA) serves the Cities of Abbeville, Donalds, Due West and Lowndesville in Abbeville County, South Carolina. AHA provides 129 units through the Public Housing program. The Public Housing program was established to provide safe and decent housing for eligible low-income families, the elderly, and persons with disabilities.

The City of Abbeville is located just 85 miles west of Columbia and 45 miles south of Greenville.
